Black and Blue is a multi-disciplinary studio situated in the heart of Kensington Market Toronto and is the creative platform for Mike McDougall. I would like to pursue my love of art and design in this forum while offering creative, design-driven solutions for Film, Broadcast, Commercial and Entertainment industries. With a strong interest and background in contemporary art and cultural theory, I believe I bring a fresh perspective to problem solving and creative visualising. I love to be involved in projects at any stage, whether it be creation, direction or completion.
I post the following, not to be pretentious. Simply because, try as I might, it can’t be said better.

One has to believe in what one is doing, one has to commit oneself inwardly, in order to do painting. Once obsessed, one ultimately carries it to the point of believing that one might change human beings through painting. But if one lacks this passionate commitment, there is nothing left to do. Then it is best to leave it alone. For basically painting is idiocy.
